Photos from Operation Irene VI, held over the weekend of September 26-28 at MUTC (Muscatatuk Urban Training Center) near Butlerville, Indiana. The airsoft event featured Col. Danny McKnight, US Army Rangers (ret.) (of Blackhawk Down fame) and MSG Howard "Mad Max" Mullen, US Army Rangers (ret.) leading one side called "Task Force Ranger" against the "Freedom Fighters" led by Col. Paul Longgrear, US Army Special Forces Vietnam (ret.) in semi re-enactment and tribute to those US soldiers lost Operation Gothic Serpent that took place in Somalia in 1993. A special appearance was also made by Todd Blackburn, US Army Ranger (ret.), the Ranger who fell from the Blackhawk at the beginning of the mission. Barry and family once again hosted the OpForce Christmas Party, with the addition this year of a "Dirty Santa" game with a twist...the presents were actually cool and some airsoft related stuff as well... The team also met at the end of the party to discuss team issues and schedule for 2008.

OpForce CQB practice at Bad Karma, May 2007. 14 of 16 were on hand (David was deployed to Iraq at the time and Jimmie had NG duty) to slug it out at Bad Karma in some brutal CQB training. No grenades, no flashbangs...just room by room 7 on 7 inside the main building in the old compound. Everyone had something to remember the day by (and not fondly....the knuckle on one of my fingers will never be the same) but a lot of valuable lessons were learned as well. Photos are of gear up before practice, no actual photos of the practice carnage exist...

Scanned photos of the Life Magazine Sunday Weekend Insert article written about Operation Irene 2 that appeared in Sunday papers around the country on December 9th, 2005. Article written by Chris O'Connell, photos by Alec Soth. This Lionclaws Milsim Series Airsoft event marked the first time in the series that this event was held in an urban setting. It also was a very positive media piece concerning airsoft.
